Proximus est actuellement en train d'investir massivement dans la fibre optique en Belgique. L'objectif de Proximus est d'équiper 400.000 foyers belges par an, et d'atteindre 4,2 millions de foyers et d'entreprises raccordés d'ici à 2028. L'entreprise souhaite couvrir 100% des foyers.

Ce déploiement de la fibre signifie que Proximus abandonne petit à petit son ancien réseau en fil de cuivre. Proximus fibre, qu'est-ce que c'est ?

La fibre optique est une technologie permettant d'obtenir une connexion Proximus internet à ultra-haut débit. Cette vitesse de connexion est permise grâce au câblage. Contrairement à l'ADSL ou à la VDSL qui utilisent un câble en cuivre, la fibre fonctionne via un câble composé des fils en verre ou en plastique.

La fibre est capable de transporter les données à grande vitesse via des signaux lumineux sur de très longues distances, et ce, quasiment sans perte de signal. Elle est également presque insensible aux interférences électromagnétiques et bénéficie d'une très faible latence.

Installation Proximus fibre

Une fois que vous vous êtes assuré que votre adresse est éligible à la fibre Proximus et que vous avez souscrit un abonnement Fiber, vous devez prendre rendez-vous avec un technicien Proximus pour procéder à l'installation de votre boitier de raccordement à la fibre et de la prise fibre.

L'installation de la fibre Proximus s'effectue en 4 étapes :

  1. Le technicien introduit le câble en fibre à l’intérieur de votre habitation en perçant un trou à partir de votre façade à l'aide d'une échelle ou d'un élévateur ;
  2. Il achemine le câble jusqu’à l'emplacement souhaité de votre modem fibre Proximus et installe votre boîtier de raccordement à la fibre ;
  3. Il raccorde vos différents appareils au réseau fibre (TV, tablette, ordinateur, etc.) ;
  4. Il vérifie que votre wifi fonctionne correctement et teste votre vitesse de connexion. Si nécessaire, il installe un wifi booster afin de capter dans toutes les pièces de votre maison.

Vous vivez dans un immeuble ? Vous devrez alors obtenir l'accord de votre syndic pour le raccordement à la fibre des différents appartements.
